I had the flu for nine days this month, but I’m well now. Though I’ve slipped a little further behind with My Darling Tragedy—being now only six weeks ahead of the online publishing schedule—I’m pleased with what I’m turning out.
The most significant thing that happened since my last post is that my office manager took a position with another university. I knew it was unlikely that I’d have her with me for as long as I had wanted (I had been developing her in the hopes that she would one day replace me). I now have concerns about my workload in the upcoming weeks and how I will fare without her until I hire a replacement. This has prompted me to cancel my November trip to Tokyo and Ho Chi Minh City. I do still plan to take that trip, but it will likely need to wait until next year.
As I approach the end of Orly’s story in her second journal, I’m trying to prepare myself to switch gears and go back to writing Forever Candy. Walking away from Orly is creating some of the same anxiety I felt when I neared the end of Scribbles of the Empress, knowing her story was concluding.
I won’t be posting Forever Candy publicly, which means after I post Orly’s final Journal Two entry, there will be no more weekly scheduled posts on Patreon. At that time, I intend to ask my patrons on Patreon to convert to free memberships until I figure out what my next steps are.
